“Paper and Gold”

By El Anatsui

The multiple is a combination of diverse and experimental printing processes and analog art forms, and is made of paper, printed and hand-sculpted aluminum, and copper wire. With letters weaving in and out of an intricate pattern so typical of decorated manuscripts, this volumetric artwork especially evokes precious, illuminated examples, and is the first of its kind to be realized by the artist.
