ABOUT THE PRINT
"Your reversed Berlin sphere" is an exemplary project by the
critically acclaimed Danish-Icelandic artist that is composed
of, among other materials, color-effect filter glass and a
C-print. The latter depicts the city of Berlin as seen by the
artist from his studio, and contains a circular form in the
center of the image within which a smaller, spherical version of
the same view is inverted. The inverted image completes the
cityscape, which would, otherwise, be obstructed. Because of the
former, yellows, blues, purples, pinks, and oranges are some of
the colors that appear in the circular element as it transitions
from color to color depending on factors such as time of day,
lighting, and the position of a viewer. Variations in
transparency are additionally produced, with the glass acting as
a mirror, simultaneously allowing a viewer to see his or her own
reflection at the same time as the image inside the circular
form underneath the glass.
